A free Adobe Sign alternative for people who only need signing
Adobe sells a PDF suite and signing comes along with it. If signing is the part you use, this is three requests a month free with no card, 25 a month for $12.99, and no year to commit to. Every plan seals the finished PDF and keeps a hash-chained audit trail.
Why choose Signibility over Adobe Sign?
Four things we do differently. Where Adobe is ahead, the table below says so — and on PDF editing they are ahead by a mile.
A free plan, and no year to commit to
Adobe's plans are annual: cancel after the first fourteen days and they charge half of what is left. Ours is month to month, and the free plan needs no card and never expires.
Files up to 50 MB, not 10
Adobe caps every upload at 10 MB, on every plan they sell, up to Enterprise. Personal here takes 25 MB and Business takes 50 MB — enough for a scanned lease without splitting it in two.
Proof on every plan, without a sales call
Adobe says plainly that Acrobat Standard and Pro do not offer the same compliance as Acrobat Sign Solutions, which is quoted by their sales team. The seal and the hash-chained audit trail are on every plan here, including Free.
The API is in the plan
API access is part of Business at its listed price, with no separate contract to negotiate. Adobe's e-signature API lives in Acrobat Sign Solutions, behind the same conversation.
One job, done end to end
Upload the PDF, place the fields, send it. The rest is the part Adobe charges a suite for.
Your agreements come across as they are
Export the master PDF from Acrobat, upload it here, and place the fields where they were. Big files stay whole — 25 MB on Personal, 50 MB on Business.
- Drag-and-drop field editor
- Save any layout as a reusable template
- Import from Google Drive, Dropbox or your own S3 bucket
Files up to 10 MB on Free, 25 MB on Personal, 50 MB on Business. Templates need a paid plan.
No Adobe account at the other end
Your signers open a link, fill what you marked for them, and sign. Nobody is asked to install a reader or make an account to finish your document.
- No sign-up, no password, no app
- Works in any browser, on any phone
- Draw, type, or upload a signature
Need more certainty about who signed? Require a one-time code by email or SMS, from Personal up.
Proof that stands on its own
A PAdES seal inside the PDF, over the finished bytes, and a hash-chained audit certificate that downloads with it. Open either in any reader, years later, and it still shows what was signed.
- Every party gets a link to the sealed copy
- Hash-chained audit certificate in the same download
- Any PDF reader can check the seal, no account needed
The sealed audit trail is on every plan, including Free.
The proof belongs to you, not us
The proof travels with the file, not with your subscription. A PAdES seal over the finished bytes, and a hash-chained audit certificate that downloads beside it — keep the pair anywhere and they still show what was signed. While we hold your documents, every one of them is encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM.
Independent Cryptographic Proof
The file stands on its own, forever, wherever you store it.

Adobe renamed the product Acrobat Sign, and its e-signing is sold three ways: inside Acrobat Standard and Acrobat Pro, as Acrobat Sign licences for small business and enterprise, and as Acrobat Sign Solutions. Their figures here are from Adobe's own pricing pages and their transaction-limits article, checked August 2026: $14.99 a month for Acrobat Standard for individuals and $23.99 per licence for Acrobat Pro for teams, both annual plans billed monthly, unlimited transactions on Acrobat Standard and Pro, 150 per user a year on the Acrobat Sign licences, and a 10 MB ceiling on every upload at every level. Their plans change, so check theirs before you decide. Signibility figures are the live plan limits — see pricing. Adobe, Acrobat and Acrobat Sign are trademarks of Adobe Inc. Signibility is not affiliated with or endorsed by them.
Questions about moving over
Who Acrobat is really for, and what you get by leaving it.
[email protected]Is Adobe the better choice for some people?
Often, yes. Acrobat is a PDF editor first: converting, editing, OCR on scans, redaction. If that is the work, buy Acrobat — signing comes with it and Acrobat Standard sends as many requests as you like. Signibility only signs, so this page is for people who were paying for the suite to get the signatures.
How many documents can I actually send on Adobe?
It depends which licence you hold. Acrobat Standard and Acrobat Pro bought from Adobe include unlimited transactions per user each year. The Acrobat Sign licences sold to small businesses and enterprises include 150 per user per year unless the contract says otherwise, and every level caps each upload at 10 MB.
What is the catch with Adobe's monthly price?
It is an annual plan billed monthly. Their pricing page says a fee applies of half your remaining annual commitment if you cancel after 14 days. Signibility is month to month — stop when you like, and the free plan has no card behind it at all.
Do I have to pay extra for an API?
Not here. API access is part of the Business plan at its listed price. Adobe's e-signature API belongs to Acrobat Sign Solutions, which is a sales conversation and a quote rather than a price on a page.
How do I move my templates across?
Download the master PDFs from Adobe and upload them into Signibility. Drag the fields back onto the page and save the layout as a reusable template — five on Personal, unlimited on Business.
