What a request counts as, what happens at the limit, and how changing plan works.

One document sent to one or more signers. A document going to three people is a single request, not three. Signing something yourself never counts against the limit.
What happens if I hit my monthly limit?
Documents already out for signature keep working, and signers can still finish them. You just can't start a new request until the month rolls over or you move up a plan.
Do you ask for a card to start?
Only for a paid plan, and only at the checkout itself. Free needs no card at all and does not expire, so there is nothing to cancel if you decide against it.
Can I change plan later?
Yes, in either direction, and the change takes effect immediately. Annual billing is charged up front for the year at the discounted monthly rate.
Is the audit trail really on the free plan?
Yes. Every completed document is sealed and its trail is hash-chained on all three plans. Proof is the product — putting it behind a paywall would make the free tier a demo rather than a smaller version of the same thing.
