A Dropbox Sign alternative with the same free plan and more above it
Three signature requests a month free on both, with self-signing uncounted on both. Above that, this is 25 a month for $12.99 with signer verification included, and $29.99 a user for branding, unlimited templates and the API. Every plan seals the finished PDF and keeps a hash-chained audit trail.
Why choose Signibility over Dropbox Sign?
Four things we do differently. Where Dropbox Sign is ahead, the table below says so — starting with unlimited sending on their entry plan.
Signer verification without a team seat
A one-time code by email or SMS is on Personal at $12.99. On Dropbox Sign, SMS authentication starts on Standard at $30 a user, and Standard cannot be bought for fewer than two people.
The API is in the plan
API access is part of Business at $29.99 a user. Dropbox Sign prices its API as a separate product, from $75 a month for around 50 requests, on top of the plan you already pay for.
Unlimited templates, not fifteen
Business gives unlimited reusable templates and custom branding at $29.99 a user. Their Standard plan stops at 15 templates, and unlimited ones mean asking Premium for a quote.
Proof on the free plan too
The PAdES seal and the hash-chained audit trail are on every plan, including Free. Proof of what was signed is not something we think you should have to upgrade for.
A familiar move, not a migration
Two products this close means nothing you know has to change — only what each plan costs you.
The same PDFs, the same fields
Download your templates from Dropbox Sign, upload them here, and place the fields where they were. The editor works the way you already expect it to.
- Drag-and-drop field editor
- Save any layout as a reusable template
- Import from Google Drive, Dropbox or your own S3 bucket
Files up to 10 MB on Free, 25 MB on Personal, 50 MB on Business. Templates need a paid plan.
Nothing changes for your signers
They open a link, fill the fields you marked for them, and sign. No account and no Dropbox, and the sealed copy lands in their inbox as before.
- No sign-up, no password, no app
- Works in any browser, on any phone
- Draw, type, or upload a signature
A one-time code by email or SMS is included from Personal, not held back for a team plan.
Proof you can hold
A PAdES seal inside the PDF, over the finished bytes, and a hash-chained audit certificate that downloads with it. Each entry locks the one before it, so the record cannot be quietly rewritten.
- Every party gets a link to the sealed copy
- Hash-chained audit certificate in the same download
- Any PDF reader can check the seal, no account needed
The sealed audit trail is on every plan, including Free.
The proof belongs to you, not us
The proof travels with the file, not with your subscription. A PAdES seal over the finished bytes, and a hash-chained audit certificate that downloads beside it — keep the pair anywhere and they still show what was signed. While we hold your documents, every one of them is encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM.
Independent Cryptographic Proof
The file stands on its own, forever, wherever you store it.

API access
Dropbox Sign figures are from their plans page, their API pricing page and their free-plan help article, checked August 2026. Their app and their API are separate products with separate bills: Essentials is $20 a month and Standard $30 a user monthly, $15 and $25 on annual billing, while the API starts at $75 a month for around 50 signature requests and $250 for the plan with embedded signing. Standard starts at two users. Their plans change, so check theirs before you decide. Signibility figures are the live plan limits and the monthly rate; annual takes 20% off, making Personal $10.39 and Business $23.99 — see pricing. Dropbox and Dropbox Sign are trademarks of Dropbox, Inc. Signibility is not affiliated with or endorsed by them.
Questions about moving over
Two products this similar deserve a straight answer on where they differ.
[email protected]Your free plans look identical. Are they?
They are. Three signature requests a month on both, and on both, documents you sign yourself don't count against the three. Dropbox Sign gives you the signed PDF and an audit trail on it, and so do we. The difference starts on the plan above: 25 requests for $12.99, with signer verification and reminders included.
Do I have to pay extra for an API?
Not here. API access is part of the Business plan at $29.99 a user. Dropbox Sign's API is a separate product with its own pricing page — $75 a month for around 50 signature requests, $250 a month for the plan with embedded signing, on top of whatever your Sign plan costs.
What does it cost to verify who is signing?
$12.99 a month here — a one-time code by email or SMS is on the Personal plan. On Dropbox Sign, SMS authentication arrives with Standard at $30 a user, and Standard starts at two users, so the same assurance is a $60 a month decision.
Is Dropbox Sign the better choice for some people?
Yes. Their Essentials plan sends unlimited requests for $20 a month, so a single person sending well over 25 a month pays less there than on our Personal plan. They also have a 30-day trial, a Salesforce integration, and the obvious advantage if your files already live in Dropbox.
How do I move my templates across?
Download the master PDFs from Dropbox Sign and upload them into Signibility. Drag the fields back onto the page and save the layout as a reusable template — five on Personal and unlimited on Business, where their Standard plan stops at fifteen.
